At present Able the Disabled have 52 disabled Children who come riding and are benefiting greatly from the experience. These children are from very poor families, but, are given this opportunity.
Many children with disabilities benefit from riding, some from the relaxation it gives, others by actually learning to ride. The benefits can be enormous and wide-ranging. They include improvement of balance, coordination, muscle tone, concentration, cooperation and behaviour. A feeling of independence and “I can do it!” is achieved. For many disabled riders their visit to the stables is the thing that they look forward to most in their week and, in some cases, it might be their only opportunity to meet others.
Pattaya People sent a film crew and Mike Franklin from Pattaya Mail T.V. kindly attended and interviewed Alun Jones from Able the Disabled.
Mike also interviewed Vic and Bertram (Vic drew the short straw for a T.V. appearance!) We aren’t too sure who said the most though, Vic or Bertram!!
